Cup Play 2 > Round of 4 *FINALE UPDATE*

Two hard to predict games: But I'm tipping a CVSA-PLSC final.....

*UPDATE*
Well, I was wrong! It is a Sooke-Gorge finale! Go Sooke Go! Why Sooke and not Gorge? Sooke is the home team! I am sure both teams deserve to win!

Early exit from Cup Play....

Lots of disappointment on the drive back from Duncan! CVSA goes on to round 2 of Cup play on the strength of their 1-nil win. Both teams had chances to score but the Reds playing with no subs for much of the game could not put the ball in the back of the Cowichan net. It was not a great day for LakeHill girls. The u14Golds, the u16 Silvers all had early exits (both losing to teams from BaysU).

Enjoy your Spring break ladies. To those of you trying-out for the EMSPORTS teams (Bri, Celine and ???) Good luck on Monday and Wednesday DETAILS HERE!

We resume practice for the GHSA practice soon, check your email please! Also if you have yet to register for Spring league get your $80 and reg form in soon and write down TEAM u15g YELLOW (LakeHill).

Final Whistle!

The last league game for the 2007/8 season ended with the Reds once again showing that they where able to stay with the BaysU Rebels for long stretches of this game! The Rebels had not forgotten the Carnarvon Park game where the Reds won a narrow 1-nil despite only having 4 shots on the BaysU goal! Despite playing for pride the Rebels fell behind 1-nil at the end of a first half (Great second effort by Bri was rewarded with the lone gone of the first half) which saw the LakeHill Reds getting many opportunities! The score could easily have been 2-nil with Dani narrowly missing a great opportunity! The Reds have been playing with a shortened bench since losing two players at the Xmas break and this past week our sweeper fell to illness! Despite the missing players the remaining Reds worked hard and played with confidence!

Comparing this game to the previous encountered one was struck by the fact that this game saw the BaysU Rebels playing a 'Kick and chase' game their speedy forwards would try to run thru the Reds' defense. The Rebels equalized in the second half on a high well directed shot that eluded Callie. The Lakehill defense that had worked so hard in the first half started to show some signs of wear in the second and where peanalized with a hand ball call that resulted in BaysU getting their 2-1 on a PK. All in all the Reds where unlucky! A tie would have been a more fitting result for this game!

EVERYONE WORKED WELL IN THIS GAME! Dayle, Michele, Tabitha, Celine, Tanis, Kirstin, Lisa, Jessica, Bri, Callie, Dani, Christina and Jenna can all be congratulated for their efforts today!

Both teams now enter into single elimination District Cup play with the BaysU Rebels getting a first round bye before possibily facing the 2nd place GorgeFC Gold team. The Reds where handed a tough opponent for March 15th having to travel to Duncan over Spring Break minus 3 maybe 4 of their starters! It won't be easy to get to the 2nd round but next weeks practices will focus on preparing the girls!

Congratulations to the Reds for a great regular season! You where the only team to have earned a split decision from BaysU Rebels this season!

*FINAL* 2007/8 League game this Saturday!

The season officially comes to an end for the Lakehill Reds with a home game vs BaysUnited Rebels to be played at a LakeHill field (time and location to be known soon).

The Rebels have won the division and will be promoted to play Cup play vs u15G Gold teams! The LakeHill Reds sit firmly established in 2nd place which is a great result for the season.

Both teams want to use this game as a good test before what both hope will be a 'deep run' in Cup play!

BaysU has not forgotten the shocker from Carnarvon Park when LakeHill Reds became the *only* u15G team to have beaten the Rebels all season and the Rebels want to tie up the series!

The Reds will have a smaller bench as a number of players are currently listed on the sick-reserve! If you are healthy please attend Wednesday's practice!

2nd to last match of the 2007+08 regular season

With two unplayed games left on the schedule the Reds entered the weekend on a sunny March 1st day at Gordon Head`s sand+dirt field! Not a blade of grass to slow down the ball! The Reds were without a number of players and the flu-sickness bug persisted onto the field resulting in a sub-less second half! Some players were pressed into action in unfamiliar defensive roles! The coaches could be happy with the result as the final whistle blew and the Reds had secured second place on the season thanks to their 2-nil win vs Gordon Head! Goals came from Bri and Dani (as a result of hard work by Bri!). Dayle played a pivotal role in centre midfield! Callie deserved the shutout! Jess, Tanis ,Lisa in the mid, Celine, Jenna, Christina, Michelle all put in a great afternoon (hope I did not miss anyone!) We hope Kristen,Tabitha and Clair are all healthy for next week! Next up is BaysU then Cup play starting on the 15th!

First rule of Cup Play: You win you continue to play!!!!!!
