Game Week 14

0 -vs- 1
A nil-nil first half where Lakehill had one chance that just missed the goal (Maressa) and another where the Sooke keeper easily made the save. The first half was one where both teams had to adjust to the bounce of the ball and the faster playing surface and the resulting numerous throw ins. The second half saw most of the play in the midfield or Sooke end of the field but LakeHill was unable to mount any goal scoring opportunities. Sooke was content to try to feed their two fast forwards (Taylor and ??). Sooke was able to mount one counter attack and split the LakeHill defense for what turned out to be the only goal of the game. Sooke was first to the ball and deserved to end 2007 with 3 points.
Jenna had a strong game with LOTS of running (usually after a ball on its way 'out')
more photos to follow
other scheduled LISA games for Dec.15th include:

CVSA 0 -BU-Rebels 1
SaltSpring hosts JdF (not reported)
Gorge has the BYE
BU-Spartans 2 - Peninsula 1
Prospect Lake 3 - Gordon Head 1
As a result of these games the standings going into the winter break have a very tight race at the top half of the table with:
BaysU-Rebels are 3 points clear of LakeHill
CVSA currently sits in third place (6 points behind LakeHill) but only 2 points ahead of PLSC
PLSC with 21 points are followed by Sooke with 18 points and then Gorge with 15 points. The BaysU-Spartans earned their first three points with their win over PSC

Game Week 13

4 -v- 1
Under a nice sunny crisp winter sky the LakeHill Reds hosted Salt Spring at Beckwith Park for a noon-hour matchup! Bri was unavailable for this match but Stef, Maressa and Tanis where back to strengthen the team! Saltspring worked very hard and kept the score close for the opening 10 minutes before Lisa would get on the scoreboard followed by a trio from Daniella.
near post shot sneaks in following a great run and some good set up from the midfielders!
The goals which LakeHill scored came on some great "set up effort" from the midfielders while our defensive corps of: Dayle, Clair, Michelle, Kristin, Maressa and Stef contributed toward keeping the shots on goal which Callie would have to face to a minimum! At times there where moments of brilliant play while at other times the fans saw some sloppy first touch (you can guess what will happen at Wednesday's practice!!).

Saltspring regrouped during the second half and the Reds seemed to flounder in the middle of the Beckwith field with few scoring opportunities until Dani added the fourth goal of the game. With the Reds ahead by a comfortable 4-nil score the Lakehill players seemed to take an eye off of the speedy players that SaltSpring does have on their forward line, SaltSpring managed to break through the LakeHill defense and spoiled Callies attempt for a fourth straight shut out.
The game would end with 3 points earned for LakeHill, however this was not a memorable match and the LakeHill players will have to work harder next week against Sooke!

Movie review: "offside" (2006)

NYT Review HERE
A different kind of soccer movie, not in the same spirit as a BILBeckham or Goal...
RATING 2.5 /4
"Scheduled for release on the opening day of the 2006 World Cup, Jafar Panahi’s OFFSIDE should be dedicated to all those who will never have the opportunity to see a real-life football international played in a real-life stadium. Indeed, to all those who will never be able to see male players of any sport play a live match in any stadium full stop and to women in Iran who have been banned from football matches since the 1979 revolution".

No games played on Dec.1st

The u15G Silver standings have not changed as no games where reported to the District score-keeper as having been played. We have been told that if we can reschedule the game with PLSCs agreement then we can play the game, however it may not happen...
That means we have our Dec.8th game vs SaltSpring to look forward to, but before then back in the Fitness Gym on Monday and into Braefoot School Gym on Wednesday! Weather report looks good for next weekend!
